mashthenet 001

pics from masthenet 001

Mashthenet is a new night running in Dublin brought to you by The Streamlounge & IT:IS:ON, whereby the internet is remixed live for your eyes on the big screen (and some small screens). The first one was held last Thursday night (26/07/07) in the Hop-House on Parnell St. The event was put on by Eoghan Kidney and myself as a reaction to the YouTube Saloon, which Eoghan had organised as part of this years Darklight Symposium. So we got together to make this a regular fixture, put it in a bar environment and ask people to come along and present their favourite videos, mash them up, remix them and generally have some fun with them. Audience interaction is encouraged and welcomed and requests are based on the flow of the themes from the videos. You get the idea.

Well the night was a great laugh and went down very well. We had guest sets from Sophie Merry and Simon Doyle who both showed us some fantastic videos. We didn’t have as many screen going as we would have liked, but it all worked quite well. As it was the first night it was good to give it a test run to see how we can set it up better for the next time.

Unfortunatley I didn’t get any video footage at this one, but if you want to get and idea of what it was like, have a look at the YouTube Saloon at Darklight from the Bubble podcast.

Big thanks to Lee, Joe, Kim and all the staff at the Hop House and to Sophie, Simon and everyone who came down for the night. The next one should be sometime at the end of August. Stay tuned.

Human Behavoir

Here’s a very funny video I found on the tube for you, that is the Youtube. I can’t remember how I found this but I’m glad I did. I have had loads on this week and have a backlog of blogs, so to speak. So I will post up some amusing bits and pieces in an effort to get more out there. Stay tuned.

And now…. some animal testing. The animal is a human and vice versa!

Elizabeth In Rags

This is the video I made for The Pale for a track from their new album “The Contents Of A Shipwreck”. It’s a little skaesque stormer called “Elizabeth In Rags”. The video is mostly made from photographs. It’s a bit of a visual mind feast and worthy of a few views to catch everything that’s happening along with the music. Featuring Matthew Devereux, Shane Wearen, Ashley the Cat & Doug the Dog. Hope you like it! The high quality version is available from my Stage6 channel here.

Will it Blend?

Will it mix, will it blend? This guy finds out. An iPhone, no less, no more.
It’s just black dust!

This has gotta be seen. It’s funny that this is done with an iPhone, it has obviously catapulted this YouTube channel into the stratosphere, what with people seeing if it’s true. It is true! The iPhone is not indestructible. The blender used here is obviously an industrial high end type and will chew plastic with ease. This is so good that I had to subscribe, so I can check out all the things that get blended.

This video was added 2 days ago. It’s got almost 700,000 views in that time and counting by the second. There is an iPod one which has over 3 million views so this one is gonna top the YouTube charts I reckon. It will be old news soon. Sometime next week!

Anyway it just goes to show our fascination for technology and also our appetite for destruction.

Now serving…..

I’ll end this with my always a1 apple advice! Don’t buy an iPhone, yet. It will only get better, cheaper, bigger (storage), better…..

The remains of the iPhone are for sale on Ebay

current bid = $1200 !

My Visuals

in an effort to record more of my live visuals’ sets I have put up a piece online I was messing around with in the studio. this is not my usual vj set-up as I was beta testing vdmx for the past few weeks. guess what? - it rocks! this is now my number 1 vj app.

so this is just an unrehearsed mess around with some of my video clips and the music of decal…
