Shook All Up

“Shook All Up” by You™ vs. Elvis was one of my favourite entries in the WFMU Sixty Second Song Remix Contest. If you haven’t heard of this before, do check it out.. there are some amazing minute versions of lots of well known tunes and other experiments like Nirvana’s “Nevermind” album squeezed into one minute. The Elvis mix by You™ is a quirky cut-up of his hit “All Shook Up”. So I decided to put video to it as I was using some Elvis moments in another project. I found a few versions online and it was amazing to see the change in the way Elvis sang it over time. Especially in the later Vegas years where he seems to just want to get it over with as quick as he can. Perhaps he should have remixed it! Anyway.. here goes it..

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.

daft punk single

Oh no, I’m losing it! Yet another YouTube craze which I’m a bit slow to pick up on (well YouTube isn’t the only site on the internet you know!). So maybe you’ve seen it, maybe you haven’t, either way this is a blast. Back at the end of November 2007, this hit cyberspace…. (pay attention)

It was influenced by this from June 2007..

Well there are loads of spin offs of these now, the top one is on an official Daft Punk YouTube page, so that makes if official, but it doesn’t give any history about it. Posted on the day before elsewhere is this one of the two girls doing the routine without boxes on their heads. Well their choreography is spot on, especially of course in the official version. This video here gives credit to the original by mashing the two together.

In my opinion, these are far better than Daft Punk’s original video, done in the anime style of cartoon. As much of a fan of this art I am, I wasn’t all that impressed by that concept for these music videos / film that is ‘Interstella 555’. Read more

Total Recut – Remixed Media

tr

Here one that I saved for later a few months back and only got back around to it recently. Total Recut is a website set up by a fellow Irishman to bring about a community of video remixers, mashup artists and the like. It is a great project with a lot of potential. There are a fantastic selection of recuts accessible from the site so far and a few I have not seen before. Also on the site are links to source material, applications and other info about the scene. I hope the site grows to be a great community of like minded folks who wish to engage people with their new creations with old media. Mashups are fast becoming the biggest buzz on the web and there is so much more material to explore. Read more
